DOES NOT MEAN he or she must live without the rights and protections outlined in our Constitution.

A Film Night & Community Discussion

@ the Logan Public Library
(255 N. Main St. in Logan )

THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Free of Charge, Open to the Public
* Simultaneous Spanish Translation Available! *

Join the ACLU of Utah on Thursday night for a lively community discussion about one of the most pressing political and social issues in Utah at this time. Learn how strict local anti-immigrant ordinances have torn apart communities across the United States - and hear more about the rights that immigrants - documented or not - are afforded under the rule of law in our nation.

We will be screening the short and very compelling ACLU-produced documentary "Freedom to Dream: Rights of Immigrants". Afterwards, a panel discussion will help tie the events in the film to recent developments in Utah. We will benefit from the wisdom of expert panelists (to be determined) who represent a variety of community interests; the discussion will be moderated by Barbara Szweda, Public Policy Advocate for the ACLU of Utah.

Our panelists will reflect on the themes and issues in the film, answer your questions and share their insights on what we can do to make sure ALL people in Utah are treated fairly, justly and compassionately as we search for solutions to our current immigration situation. We will discuss the elements and potential negative impacts of SB81, the omnibus immigration law that went into effect on July 1 of this year.

RSVPs appreciated but not required.
Free copies of "Freedom to Dream," free bumper stickers and buttons, and other fun giveaways will be available at the event.

All are welcome!

The Constitution grants the government its power and the Bill of Rights restricts that power and guarantees individual rights and liberties. The ACLU of Utah works to ensure that our government respects these limits.
