Join us on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, when the show opens as part of Salt Lake's Gallery Stroll. Not only will you be among the first to see amazing works by these nationally- and internationally-known artists, you will also be there for the world premier of the ACLU of Utah's new short video. This video will feature important local voices on Utah's civil liberties challenges, and powerful voices from the ACLU of Utah's past.

If you miss the opening, don't worry. There will be many opportunities to see the unique art of "Liberties Under Fire" during its three-month run. We will also have multiple community events, free and open to the public, that you can drop in on:

YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE
Friday, October 24
7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Join us for a showing of the ACLU Freedom Files' episode "Freedom to Vote: Protecting the Ballot," an excellent examination of the right to vote - and the obstacles that sometimes stand in our way. The film will be followed by a lively panel discussion, featuring local experts on the subject. A must-see before the big election on November 4!

RACIAL JUSTICE
Friday, November 14
7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Join us for a showing of the ACLU Freedom Files' episode "Freedom to Learn: The School to Prison Pipeline," a short documentary that follows the path of young people of color through the education system. Too often, these young people are seen, early in their educational career, as being fated for the criminal justice system - and are treated accordingly by school officials. The film will be followed by a lively panel discussion about racial justice in Utah and across the country.

THE RIGHTS OF IMMIGRANTS
Friday, January 23
7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Join us for a showing of the ACLU Freedom Files' episode "Freedom to Dream: The Rights of Immigrants." This short documentary looks at the emerging area of immigrants' rights - what rights does the Constitution guarantee, if any, for people who are here without proper documents? Immigration continues to be a very hot topic of debate in Utah - this will be an excellent to learn more as the state legislative session kicks off. The film will be followed by a lively panel discussion, featuring a variety of stakeholders involved with the topic of immigration in Utah.
