Prison Litigation: Past, Present,
and Future
Join us for a discussion with Alvin J. Bronstein, founder and director emeritus of the ACLU National Prison Project, on the rights of prisoners under federal law. The evening is designed for practicing attorneys, law students, corrections officials, and community advocates.

The event will take place on Wednesday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the S.J. Quinney College of Law Sutherland Moot Court Room (University of Utah, 332 South 1400 East, Salt Lake City). A reception will follow Mr. Bronstein’s presentation.

ACLU Urges Senate to Explore Supreme Court Nominee Alito’s Record
The ACLU has urged the Senate to carefully examine the civil liberties record of Judge Samuel Alito, President Bush’s nominee to replace Sandra Day O’Connor on the United States Supreme Court, especially given Justice O’Connor’s pivotal role on the court. In the coming weeks, the ACLU will prepare a complete report on Judge Alito’s civil liberties record.

6th Annual Amnesty International
Film Festival
Presented by Amnesty International, the Salt Lake City Film Center, and the City Library, this year’s festival will feature fourteen films related to human rights. Filmmakers Jim Butterworth and Daniel Chalfen will conduct post-screening discussions following their films, “Seoul Train” and “Pulled From the Rubble.”

The 6th Annual Amnesty International Film Festival will take place Thursday, November 3 through Sunday, November 6. Tickets are now available at the Library Store (210 East 400 South, Salt Lake City or 524-8238). The suggested donation is $7 for each film screening, with discounts available for students and seniors. A limited number of free seats will be available at each film screening.
