Actually, the ACLU of Utah LOVES Christmas!

Some people have accused the ACLU of being anti-Christmas, but it's just not true. We love all the holidays we're free to celebrate in this country - thanks to the work and support of people like you.

The Bill of Rights guarantees us the right to freely practice our beliefs with our family and friends, in our homes and communities…without government interference. We hope you take every opportunity to exercise your right to religious freedom during this beautiful time of year.

Make sure our efforts to guarantee such freedoms continue – make a financial contribution today!

2008 Legislative Session: Your Participation DOES Matter

Believe it or not, the opinions of “real people ” carry as much weight – and sometimes more – with our elected officials than those of paid professionals. That's why we've arranged the following opportunities for you meet and talk with your representatives:

  • Tues., Jan. 22, 8:30 am - 9:45 am (with members of the House).
  • Thurs., Jan. 24, 8:30 am - 9:45 am (with members of the Senate).

Contact Stephanie Peterson to RSVP or with questions. We're happy to provide you with background information on the critical legislation we are following. Light refreshments served.

CLOSE GUANTÁNAMO! Wear Orange on January 11

January 11, 2008, is the six-year anniversary of the first arrival of detainees to the U.S. detention center at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. This prison continues to be a mark of shame for our country. On January 11th, the ACLU is leading a nationwide movement, calling on people of conscience to demand an immediate end to the injustice at Guantánamo Bay.

Wear orange on January 11 to demonstrate your solidarity with this cause. For more information on how the ACLU of Utah is participating in the Close Guantánamo! campaign locally, contact Anna Brower.

The Constitution grants the government its power and the Bill of Rights restricts that power and guarantees individual rights and liberties. The ACLU of Utah works to ensure that our government respects these limits.
