Utah’s Board of Pardons and Parole: The Urgent Need for Reform

09 February 2016 Published in Audio and Video

This short video explains how the Board of Pardons works and why it matters to us.

In Utah, justice does not play out like you might expect. Sentences are seen as "recommendations," and Utah's Board of Pardons and Parole has the final say over how long to keep inmates imprisoned. To make matters worse, the board has a profound lack of accountability and oversight, making it impossible to study how potential patterns of bias are impacting prisoners in Utah.
