While the ACLU of Utah is not organizing these events, we will be there in support of Utah Diné Bikéyah and other tribal organizations and nations and our First Amendment right. We urge you to do the same in person, or in spirit.

First, get a Free Speech Tune-up by watching a video of our recent “Know Your Rights” training that took place in late November.
You may be wondering why the ACLU of Utah is involved with Bears Ears and decisions about public lands. The primary reason is that the ACLU supports tribal sovereignty and the efforts of local organizations like Utah Diné Bikéyah and the Utah League of Native American Voters to manage ancestral lands. We oppose efforts by the current administration to undermine existing tribal agreements... like the original Bears Ears National Monument designation in December 2016.
You can read about our position on Bears Ears on our blog post "The ACLU is NOT an Environmental Organization. So Why Did We Comment on Bears Ears?" ACLU of Utah Blog (June 2017)
