Coming Together on Police Reform: The Legislative Process
Coming Together on Police Reform This is our third virtual panel discussion on police reform--this time focusing on the Utah Legislature and upcoming bills that are most likely to resolve issues of equity and use of force. Panelists will include lawmakers and advocates who can identify the most promising bills and help citizens lobby effectively for their passage.
The 2020 Election is November 3
The election is November 3, 2020. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Monday, November 2. Drop-boxes and in-person voting is available on Tuesday, November 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. MDT. Roundtable: Utah in the National Debate (Oct. 22, 2020 5pm)
This fall, Utah State University will begin a six-part, virtual celebration of voting rights and a discussion about challenges facing United States democracy today. The public symposium commemorates both the centennial of women’s suffrage nationally and the 1965 Voting Rights Acts. On October 22, ACLU of Utah Legal Director John Mejia will participate in a round-table discussion on Utah's role in the national debate over voting rights. The event is free and open to the public.
Social Justice Series: Act Now - Learn How to be an Ally and Anti-Racist (Sept. 3)
The ACLU of Utah is glad to join Publik, the Melanin Foundation, and the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs to sponsor this upcoming Social Justice Series in Utah. On September 3, join renowned author Austin Channing Brown and local social justice leaders for our first segment of this series: Act Now – Learn How to be an Ally and Anti-Racist.
ACLU of Utah Block Party - August 7, 2020
This year's ACLU of Utah Block Party will take place virtually on August 7, 2020. After several years of holding fantastic in-person gatherings, the ongoing pandemic is forcing us to move online for the 2020 event.

On August 3, ACLU of Utah's Jason Groth will be speaking at a workshop on free speech and white supremacy at the Japanese American Citizens League National Convention in Salt Lake City.

The Quiet Force: Film screening and Panel Discussion
The ACLU of Utah's John Mejia will participate a panel dicussion following the June 14 screening of the film, The Quiet Force, at the Jim Santy Auditorium, (1255 Park Avenue, Park City, UT). This screening is part of the Reel Community Series.

Press Conference Against New Abortion Ban (4/10/19)
Exactly 28 years ago, the ACLU of Utah filed a lawsuit that eventually overturned an unconstitutional 20-week abortion ban passed by the Utah Legislature. This week we're doing it again.

2018 National Week of Action Against School Pushout to Utah
Sat. Octo 20 - Sun. Oct 28, Racially Just Utah, in partnership with local allies, will be bringing the 2018 National Week of Action Against School Pushout to Utah. Throughout the week there will be educational activities to empower the community to end the school to prison pipeline.
