Bio

Alison joined the ACLU of Utah in November 2024, after two decades living and working among diverse communities in the U.S., Middle East, Central America, and Europe. Serving in roles with the nonprofit, academic, and government sectors, she has led innovative community outreach that educates and empowers the individual.

Alison began her career in legislative policy in the U.S. Senate, then moved to community and public diplomacy engagement with the U.S. Department of State. Connecting with communities that were culturally, economically, ethnically, geographically, ideologically, linguistically, and racially diverse, she fostered relationships that advanced educational, human rights, and economic empowerment initiatives. Through her work and life experiences, she developed a keen understanding of the critical role community plays in creating a safe, stable, and thriving environment.

Pivoting from the federal government, Alison worked in higher education, a nonpartisan nonprofit, and woman-owned small business, leading professional development programs, facilitating civil dialogue, and supporting individuals in career transitions. Committed to inclusion and improving community well-being, she continues to help others develop their capacity to lead healthy, safe, fulfilling lives.

Alison holds a Master of Public Policy from Central European University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Wake Forest University. A Kentucky native, she enjoys exploring new places and drawing inspiration from the nature, history, arts, and culture of the area.
