WHAT
Read-in at the Capitol

WHEN
Friday, February 13 at 3:30pm

WHERE
The Utah State Capitol Rotunda

WHO
The free event is sponsored by the Let Utah Read coalition in partnership with EveryLibrary, PEN America, Penguin Random House, ACLU of Utah, the Utah Library Association, and the National Booksellers Association.

Speakers include:

  • Abdi Nazemian, Keynote Author Speaker “Like a Love Story”
  • Utah State Representative John Arthur
  • Jason M. Groth, Legal Director for the ACLU of Utah
  • McKenzie Compton, Student Speaker
  • Cal Crosby, Owner, King’s English Bookshop/CEO, Brain Food Books

WHY
The annual read-in was launched four years ago because taking books off shelves cost our kids the chance to see themselves, build empathy, and find belonging. Reading together is an act of resistance.

HOW
From 3-3:30pm, Aaron Welcher will be on site to facilitate interviews with speakers, Let Utah Read organizers, and community members. If you want to schedule an interview in advance, please reach out to Aaron at 317-376-0468 or [email protected].
