2026 Primary Election Information

Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy and the fundamental right upon which all our civil liberties rest. Get ready to vote in the 2026 elections.

The Primary Election will be June 23, 2026.

  • Ballots will be mailed on June 2, 2026 (Active registered voters will receive a ballot automatically). (Return by mail or drop box).
  • June 16 is the last day to request a ballot by mail.
  • Voters may register in-person on Election Day with two forms of valid ID.
  • Political parties in Utah hold both closed and open primaries, depending on the party. The Republican, Libertarian, Constitution, and Green Parties all hold closed primary elections, meaning that only voters affiliated with those parties will receive a primary ballot and be able to vote in the primary. The Democratic Party, Independent American Party, and Utah Forward Party hold open primary elections. If you are not registered as affiliated with a political party, you may vote in an open primary. To do so, you need to request the party's ballot you want from your clerk. You may only vote in one party's primary. Contact your county clerk to request a ballot.
