Salt Lake City, UT - The American Civil Liberties Union of Utah, Inc. (ACLU of Utah) has sent a letter to Governor Spencer Cox urging him to veto H.B. 467, a bill that further restricts the ability of Utahns to obtain abortion care. The ACLU of Utah is deeply concerned about the restrictions this bill places on the right of Utahns to decide if and when to have a child and the diminished availability of safe and affordable healthcare that could result if this bill were to become law.

Brittney Nystrom, Executive Director of the ACLU of Utah, stated:

We've sent a letter to Governor Cox asking him to veto H.B. 467. The ACLU of Utah will always view healthcare as a fundamental right. The right to bodily autonomy is a deeply held and long-recognized human and civil right. The ACLU of Utah will scrutinize legislative attempts to significantly limit a person's reproductive freedom, including the right to decide if and when to become a parent.
