ABOUT AARON WELCHER

Aaron Welcher joined the ACLU of Utah in May of 2022 as the affiliate’s first Communications Director. Previously, Aaron was the Communications and Advocacy Associate for the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council, a nonprofit representing the Jewish community in public affairs. In this role, he worked to amplify the Jewish communities voice and narratives in the media.

He has a deep passion for data-driven communications and marketing and how to utilize these strategies to enhance the impact areas of organizations. He believes that dynamic relationships are paramount to uniting changemakers; concurrently, communications serve as the vehicle to bolster these efforts and inspire action. It invigorates him to redefine the standard dogma around relationship-building by adopting non-traditional partnerships.

Aaron is excited to join the ACLU of Utah, particularly the opportunity to work with media and press members. His approach to media relations focuses on building honest and open relationships. He does this by not only taking media interviews by serving as a resource behind the scenes to the press on issues of civil liberties and civil rights.

When he is not working, you can find him playing with his cats Oliver and Owen (adopted from Best Friends) — when not attempting to build for his cats, Aaron likes exploring art and cultural events, and hiking. Recently, he volunteered on the leadership team for SLC Pride.
